Cost Cutter Match 21/4/22 This week’s cost cutter match was held on BJ’s lake. The sun shone all day out of a cloudless sky which unfortunately put the bream right off the feed. Mick Farmery came out on top with 9lb, Mick Nash was second with 5lb 15oz and Rob Smith third with 2lb 5oz. Next week’s match is on Jurassic.
AGM on Sunday The first AGM since before Covid will be held on Sunday 24th April at Birstall Social Club. The meeting will start at 10.15am prompt. Find out what has been happening behind the scenes by coming along. Have your say, meet other members and question the Committee on any points that may concern you. All Trophies will be presented at the AGM so if you have won one please come along and collect it.
Away Day Match 17/4/22 The regular Match Anglers chose to go on an away day at Holly Farm on Sunday now that the Broome Match Cal ender has been completed. It turned out to be a good day for Gavin Norton. Gav, drawn on peg 23 of Trotters Lake spent the day fishing shallow to amass a bumper 172lb 11oz to win with 90lb to spare!! Shaun Carey fished in a similar manner and also had a fine weight of 82lb 3oz from peg 35 to take the runner-up spot. Kevin Hirons also had a good day finishing with a weight of 66lb 5oz, earning him third place from peg 28. The lake fished well with all catching good nets on a pleasant sunny spring day.
Cost Cutter Match 14/4/22 This week’s cost cutter match was held on Smiggies lake. For a change the weather was kind to us. Rob Smith came out on top with 14lb 8oz, second was Mick Nash with 10lb 8oz and third Chris Shore with 5lb 12oz. Next week’s match will be on BJs.
Cost Cutter Match 31/3/22 This week’s cost cutter match was held on a freezing, snowy Sanctuary lake. Weights were expected to be very low due to the conditions, and so it proved. Rob Smith won the day with 2lb 6oz, followed by Chris "the Crane" Shore with 2lb exactly and Mick Farmery third with 1lb 2oz. Next week’s match will be on Smiggies.
Cost Cutter Match 24/3/22 This week’s cost cutter match was held on Colver. Chris Shore came out on top with 32lb 4oz, second was Rob Smith with 22lb 1oz and third Mick Nash with 13lb 8oz. Next week’s match will be on Smiggies.
Kilworth Toilets We have a message from Terry Branston regarding the toilets at Kilworth Sticks: The toilets at Kilworth Sticks have now been opened for another year. Please respect others and keep the toilets clean and tidy, as if you were at home. As not pleasant for the cleaner who has volunteered to find a mess so, PLEASE, keep it clean and tidy. Broome Away Day 20/3/22 Nine of the regular Match anglers had an away day at Peatling Pools on Plough lake. It turned out to be unexpectedly tough going for some, with three no weighs. Paul Edwards won the day with 38lb 14oz from peg 8. The runner-up spot going to Mike Tyrer, Mike netting 37lb 3oz from peg 22. Mark Akiens completed the top three with 32lb 4oz from peg 17.
