Chairman's League Final
Cancelled
Due to the adverse weather conditions the Chairman's League Final, on Colver, has been cancelled. The
match has been re-scheduled to take place on the 15th January 2023. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Bait for Buffalo's
Buffalo Lake at Kilworth has recently been stocked with some hungry Carp, and is, apparently, fishing quite well.
As there is still not a great amount of natural food in the lake we are feeding the fish on a regular
basis. If you are fishing at Kilworth Sticks and have any spare bait left over at the end of your session
please throw it into Buffalo Lake as this will also be a great help. Thank you.
Kilworth Sticks Toilets
The Toilets at Kilworth have now been drained and closed for the winter months to prevent frozen pipes etc. They
will re-open in the spring.
Shooting Days at Kilworth Sticks
The land owner at Kilworth Sticks holds private shooting days at Kilworth. These days do not have any affect on our
fishing at the venue, nor do they pose any risk to members at the venue. They can, however, cause concern for
anyone not aware of what is going on.
We are, therefore, publishing the dates when the shooting will take place.
Please remember use of the venue by Broome Members is in no way affected on these dates.

A Load of Rubbish
Sadly, after posting the message below showing the actions of some of our members in helping out there fellow
anglers, we have the other side of the coin to show.

Reported by one of our members who had to clear this mess left by someone fishing on Jurassic. Not only is this
unsightly it also poses a great risk to the birds and wildlife around our complex. If we find out who left this
mess, and anyone else for that matter is found leaving litter they will be banned from the
club.
WE DO NOT WANT YOU AS MEMBERS
A Big Thank you
One of our very senior members, Mr R. D. Potter, wrote to Membership Secretary, Malcolm Shooter to ask us to issue
a thankyou from him to four members who recently retrieved his landing net after he lost it in Jurassic
Lake.
Mr Potter who is 90 years of age was fishing on Jurassic and caught a small Roach, on retrival, a Pike of
around 8lb attempted to snap up the Roach. Unfortunately for Mr Potter; and the Pike... it managed to foul hook
itself close to the gill. Mr Potters wife, gamely, tried to net the Pike but fell backwards, dropping the net
into the lake!!
Mr Potter spoke to four members about what had happened and one of them very kindly got it
out of the lake and left it on the bank, where he had been fishing. Mr Potter returned to the lake a couple of
days later and, lo and behold there was his net on the bank!!
So many thanks to who ever it was who retrived the net, and its great to know that we have
members in our club who are glad to help a fellow angler out.
Kevin Harty
Kevin Harty's funeral is Friday the 2nd of September, at Gilrose cemetery 1-30pm. Then the Harrow pub Thurmaston
after, to celebrate his life. Could you let me, or Keith Macfarlane, know if you are going to the Harrow, so his
daughter Ruth has some idea of numbers.
Sad Loss
It is with great sadness that we have to bring the news that another of
our stalwart members, Kevin Harty, passed away earlier this week; after a short
illness.
Kev had been
a member for many years and also served on the Broome Committee for a good deal of that time. He retired about
three years ago from the important position of Club Treasurer. Kev had many friends in and around the club and
he will be sadly missed by all.
Our
condolences go out to his family at this difficult time.
Rest In Peace
Kevin.
Fishing Tackle Lost
One of our members has lost a new rod and reel in Lizzies Lake at
Kilworth Sticks. Should anyone pull this out please get in touch with Keith Macfarlane and we will return the
items to their owner.
Keiths
contact details are in your membership book. Thank you.
