It has been reported
that some nails and screws have been seen on the road around Jurassic Lake. I'm sure that these will have been
cleared away by now but please be extra careful whilst driving or walking around this
area.

Charnwood Days
It will be the first
of the two "Charnwood Teach-in" days on Friday 25th July. The second will be held on the following
Friday, 1st August.
Please note that
Colver will be closed to ALL members for each of these two days until after the teach-ins have been completed. Many
thanks for your co-operation.
As ever, we would be
grateful if anyone can spare a little time to come and help the youngsters, on either or both of these two days. It
mainly involves helping them set up their tackle, maybe netting fish for them or just giving a bit of
advice....
Meet at 9am on the
Main Car Park at Frisby, with the fishing being between 10am and 3pm.
If you require any
more information please contact Kevin Hirons or Ted Whiter, their telephone numbers are in your membership
book.

Smiggies Crayfish
It seems that the White Claw Crayfish in Smiggies Lake are becoming more prolific. Terry Newton caught two the
last time he fished there on Monday (7/7/14) and also one on his previous session...

Please do not confuse these with the Red Claw Crayfish at Kilworth!!
The White Claw (as pictured above) are a protected species and MUST be returned to the water alive.
Where as the Red Claw Crayfish at Kilworth, if caught, must be removed from the water and placed in one of the
blue bins provided around Lizzies Lake.

Barry finds Flash Farm
I received the following message from new Broome member Barry Smithson:
After an uneventful day fishing on Admirals Lake at Kilworth yesterday, I found my way to Flash Farm with the
intention of having a look at the upper Soar there. I ended up going back to my car and I rigged up my 12' float
rod and Ariel centrepin and headed off to have a crack at fishing it...

It is a tricky little river to fish but there are some cracking
fish in there! I caught them all on my sweetcorn leftovers from earlier in the day, including the Trout! That
was a beauty, it was as big as the Chub, I my first Chub to be about 4lb and the pictured Chub, with
the forceps next to it, to be about 5lb. I met and spoke to the farmer, he was very obliging and
helpful.
I enjoyed Admirals lake though it is very weedy, I had a good session
there three weeks ago with Carp to about 6lb and a Tench of 8oz and a few skimmers.
I am enjoying being a member very much. By the way, the Chub and the Trout
were PB's!
Barry also included a couple of fish he caught recently at Frisby Complex:

A
couple more that I caught, this time from Jasons Pond at Frisby on my first session on a Broome water, the
Crucian was a cracking little fish that was about 12oz.
