Sanctuary Sweepstake 19/10/10

Ten members fished a sweepstake match on Sanctuary Lake last Sunday 17/10/10, after reports of decent catchs to pleasure anglers. After a frosty start the day blossomed into a fine autumn day. Sadly the fishing didn't reflect the weather. In fact it has to be said, it was pretty dire!!

Dave Kimber took top honours with 4lb 12oz, most of which was a decent Tench of 3lb+. Dave added a few Silver fish to finish well in front of the field. Jason Farmery put together a net of small silvers and perch, as any of the more sizeable fish refused to play ball. His 2lb 4oz was easily enough for second spot.

Section 1 went to Barry Crane, again with a 1lb 2oz net of small fish. Mick Farmery and Simon Pepper had to settle for a share of the Section 2 prize, each with 10oz.

A very disappointing result, but as so often on this Lake...it does seem to shut up shop whenever a match is fished on this water.

Should've gone to spec-savers!

Broome member Dennis Bull had a rather unfortunate experience, last week, whilst fishing at Frisby Complex. Dennis was attempting to push his bankstick into the ground at peg 41 on Colver Lake when the bank suddenly gave way....causing Dennis to fall headlong into the murky depths!!!! Thankfully the only thing injured was his pride.

After clambering out of the lake, with the help of some other nearby members, Dennis realised that he had lost his new glasses....We know that it is a bit of a long shot, but if you are fishing at, or close to peg 41 and happen to hook said glasses Dennis would be most grateful for there return. If you should find them, then please let me or any other Committee Member know and we will reunite the two...

Lost Property
