Good Win for Rob
It was almost a full turn out for Round 2 of the Chairman's League, with 22 starters on a
breezy but fine day. Some of the colour had dropped out of Colver, and it showed, with the opening stages
being very slow for most.
It was Rob Smith who came out on top with a good weight on a pretty tough day. Netting 68lb 9oz,
Rob, on peg 18, caught well after a slowish start. Most of his fish falling to either meat or paste. Rob switching
between the two throughout the day and catching best near to the side margins.
Geoff Harper took the runner-up spot, finding his luck change after switching from Pole to a
method feeder approach with pellet on the hook. Geoff's 52lb 1oz from peg 44 a decent weight from a peg that rarely
throws up many fish.
Third place went to Chris Crane, who was one of the few that caught well from the start. Chris on
peg 23 was catching on Long Pole fishing over to the far bank but his peg slowed down throughout the day and put
43lb 3oz on the scales at the "all out".
Last in the main frame, on peg 14, was Paul Cooke. Cookie who also fished toward the far
bank weighed in with 35lb 15oz to take fourth spot.
