Steve stuff's the opposition to take home the Turkey!

This years Fur & Feather Match was a very well attended event, with 23 members turning out for the 8.30am draw. After a clear night, with a full moon, the omens were not to good, and most thought that bites would be pretty slow. The cool and windy, autumnal, daytime conditions, certainly helped to strengthen that view.

In the event, though, the lake didn't fish quite as poorly as widely predicted, but as usual, once the weather starts to take those dreaded steps toward winter, the further that you were pegged away from the ends of the lake the more difficult the fish were to tempt.

The man currently in the form of his life, Steve Kinch, who seems set on sweeping the board of Broome trophy's this season added the Fur & Feather 1st prize to his haul. Drawing the highly fancied peg 23, Steve made no mistake and blitzed all those around him with 73lb 4oz of Carp, all caught on the Long Pole using Luncheon Meat on the hook, once again a great performance by Steve Thumbs Up.

At the other end of Colver, on peg 2, Den Porter also caught pretty steadily through out the day, also on the Long Pole, to take the runner-up spot with 42lb 4oz.

Chris Crane was catching really well on peg 39 until he hooked a 6-7lb lump of a Carp! It turned out to be a bit of a mixed blessing though as after he had safely netted the bonus Carp, about halfway through the competition, he only added one more fish to his tally in the remaining three hours! All of Chris's fish fell to Pellet fished on the Long Pole, tight to the far bank.

Fourth place went to Chris Lee on peg 21 with 36lb 4oz. Chris might have had a few more had it not been for being constantly disturbed by Steve Kinch landing fish!! . Again the favoured method was the Long Pole, and in what was a close contest for 2nd, 3rd and 4th, just a couple of extra fish could have made all the difference.

As it was the Fur & Feather match there were two Section prizes in every five pegs. in all, twelve of the twenty three starters were to win a prize. And with everyone receiving a bottle of wine, most went home....fairly....happy! .

Section places are as noted above.
