Bad day at Manor Farm
We were hoping to report better news from Manor Farm but, sadly, the fishing was as bad as many had predicted before the match started. Clearly there are the odd few pockets of Bream about....but, seemingly, not too many!!
Nine brave souls turned up for the 8.30am draw, and at the 3.30pm "all out" only two of the nine had caught anything. Jason Farmery, continuing his exceptional start to the season, once again finished top of the pile with five good Bream from peg 40 for 15lb 8oz. Jasons fish were all around the 3lb'ish stamp and were fit fish in good condition.
Frank Lyons was the only other "catcher." Frank also fished the feeder and was finally rewarded with one Bream, from peg 34, for 3lb 8oz.
With the conditions looking just right for Bream fishing with a warm wind putting a good "chop" on the water and overcast skys it just goes to show how the form of this venue has deteriorated over the last 18 months or so.... None of the other seven competitors had so much as an indication that any fish were present in their swim. There were some sizable Carp swimming on the surface but the once prolific Skimmers and roach seem to have all but disappeared.
The section prizes had to be drawn out of the hat... With Den Porter taking Section1, and Keith Macfarlane section 2.
