Mick Takes Round 2
You can't keep the Farmery's down for long as Mick proved with his first
Match main frame placing of this season on Broome waters. It was round two of the Sunday League, and Mick
picked out peg 9. With the Lake a good 12-14 inches below normal level, one of the deepest pegs on the water,
probably, wasn't a bad place to be. Mick fished a very patient match targeting the Carp, after a fruitless
first three hours he stuck to his guns and his patience was eventually rewarded with five Carp in the
latter part of the competition. One of them tipping the scales at over 11lb....a very nice bonus!! . All caught on Maggot, close to the reeds.
One half of the Chuckle Brothers tribute, Mark Aikins , landed himself 2nd place with the help of another bonus, this one a Carp
touching 9lb....caught using a lump of cheese about one foot below the surface!!!! (I know... I couldn't
believe it either!! ). Along with two other carp and a three decent Silver fish Mark took 22lb 10oz to
the scales.
A good run of decent sized Silvers in the first two hours of the Match stood me in good
stead, as a Carp hooked on light tackle, virtually, put an end to the Silvers swim. Just the odd Roach and small
Skimmers took my final weight to 20lb 4oz...just enough to hang on to third place.
Section 1 went to Marks "Chuckle Brother" partner, Simon Pepper..... . Simon netted a couple of good Silvers and four prime Carp from peg 1 to narrowly
miss out on a frame place with 18lb. Young Steve Kinch carried on his fine run of form by taking Section 2
with 12lb from peg 13.
