Simon Strikes Gold!
Round two of the Chairmans League showed us that the Carp are still feeding well,
with the low water levels that have been with us for most of the spring/summer months this lake has not really
produced the weights of previous years. But weights of fish over 50lb are still pretty good for mid
October.
Alan Smith was this week responsible for drawing out the "Golden Peg" and when he drew out peg 12
it certainly gave the lucky recipient a good chance of cashing in......If you are looking for a lucky recipient
then you, usually, need look no further than Simon Pepper!! . Simon has not fished as many matches as usual this summer and most of us had
almost forgotten what a lucky devil he can sometimes be..... . Until, of coarse, he pulled out the "Golden Peg" and scooped the pot with his
match winning weight of 70lb 11oz .
Steve Kinch did his level best to stop Simon taking home the pot, but just failed by about 9lb or
so Steve, on end peg 21, had to settle for second place with his weight of 61lb 3oz.
Third place went to Jason Farmery, on peg 5, I wasn't at the match myself, but I imagine
that Jason would have quite fancied this peg as, sometimes, there can be a few "lumps" around this area.
Strangely, the normal banker pegs 14-18 didn't show very much at all. Dave Kimber needed just
12lb 14oz to take Section 1 from peg 18. I'm sure that these pegs will return to form once the cold weather really
sets in. Section 2 went to Chris Crane at the other end peg, 46. Chris netted 41lb 10oz in a match where most of
the 12 competitors put some decent weights on the scales.
