Chris Takes Round Four
Chris Crane won round four of this years Sunday League with plenty to spare, almost 20lb in
fact. A lot of the Carp seem to have moved from the southern end of the Lake with the usual end peg "flyers"
18 and 21 not quite the bankers that they can be when the weather gets a little cooler. It has made for fairer
matches as it seems that any peg can be a possible money winner at the moment.
With pegs 2,4 and 6 in a group on there own and a long gap to peg 12, Chris, on peg 6 made good
use of the "end peg" catching steadily, after a sluggish start, through the day to finish the match with a
commendable 72lb 4oz and top spot .
Second placed Keith Macfarlane spent the first two hours of the match without a bite!! No one, at
this stage was really catching well though. A change to the inside line proved to be inspired as Keith netted a
succession of decent sized Carp to finish runner up with 53lb 8oz. Keith was feeding maggot quite heavily and
actually ran out of bait toward the end of the competition causing his catch rate to drop, otherwise he may have
pushed Chris a little closer.
Jason Farmery finished just short of Keith with 51lb 12oz. Jason employed his favourite tactic of
fishing the inside line for the majority of his day and once again it paid off with a third placed finish from peg
44 in what was a close tussle between about six anglers for the frame places.
Section 1 went to Barry Crane with 24lb 13oz from peg 14. Former Lonsdale Love God Stu Killen had
a six hour rest from his harem to net 47lb 12oz from peg 23 for Section 2. Dave Kimber completing the prize
winners with 42lb 13oz from peg 38.
