Smiggys win for Den

This weeks Sunday League Match was all but won in the first hour by Den Porter. Den landed four good sized Bream from peg 26 by fishing the feeder up to the Island, all in the first 60 minutes....Everyone else was struggling for a bite during the first hour with only Silver fish prepared to have much of go. Den Finished well ahead of the field with 19lb, almost double the second placed weight.

The whole match was a bit of a struggle, if the truth be told, and very few big fish were caught....apart, of course, from Dens first hour. The lake is very low at the moment, and with seventeen anglers and a swirling wind gusting...it was never going to be easy.

Dave Kimber decided to fish a Silver fish match, and by working his peg, fishing a variety of methods and attacking different areas of his peg throughout the day Dave put together a very respectable 10lb of Silver for second place from peg 23.

Keith Macfarlane also started with a Silver fish approach, on peg 10, and caught well for the first hour, netting about 6lb or so before, as they so often do, the bites dried up. It was then time to try and catch a few Bream. Keith added just one Bream to his Silvers but it was enough to boost his weight to a third placed 9lb 10oz.

Section winners on the day were Wayne Mitchell who took section 1 with 9lb 4oz from peg 7; Barry Crane, peg 16, won section 2 with 9lb 2oz and yours truely took section 3 with 7lb 6oz from peg 20.
